Ollie and Sue from Sussex approached VW Worx when they were looking for their T6 camper conversion. They had previously seen a video of our Newquay 'Retro' on a T5.1 and wanted the 2021 version! A good condition T6 van was sourced and delivered directly to VW Worx.
The T6 that was used for this conversion was delivered fitted with 'barn' doors at the rear, but Ollie and Sue really wanted a tailgate. As part of the conversion, a tailgate was fitted before giving the vehicle it's retro paint job.
The camper was fitted to our 2021 Newquay specification with a slimline fibreglass pop-top roof with suede headlining and bed board.
Inside, the units were finished in blue and oak lightweight ply, with plenty of storage space. A matching table, stored in the tailgate, clips neatly on the rail above the fridge.
The 3/4 'Original Rusty Lee' M1 tested Rock'n'roll bed was finished with grey and cream leather and tombstone headrests. Reading lights are mounted either side which are useful when the seat is up or in it's bed position. The front seats were also trimmed and the double passenger seat was fitted with a 'Rusty Lee' swivel base.
At the rear, there is access to the wardrobe, vented gas cabinet and under bed storage, as well as a couple of useful coat hooks and a 12v power outlet.
This conversion has a fridge with icebox, and a stainless steel sink / 2 ring gas hob combination with fresh and waste water containers in the cupboard below. The cutlery drawer has plenty of room for the essentials.
This camper has a Sargent power system that charges the leisure battery, 4no. 240v power outlets and USB outlets too. As an option, Ollie and Sue also asked us to fit a Planar diesel heater underneath to keep them toasty warm and dry all year round.
